Mawnan Smith

Trelawne Hotel front

The Gibbons family have run this popular 3-star hotel overlooking Falmouth Bay for well over a quarter of a century.

Located within 2 acres of its own grounds, the Trelawne offers a total of 14 guest rooms, all of which are en suite. It boasts some fine sea views – from the Carrick Roads down to the notorious Manacles – and is a great location for those seeking to explore towns such as Falmouth while enjoying accommodation in a more rural setting.

The village of Mawnan is also nearby, where there is a post office, a thatched pub and a restored working blacksmith’s forge and craft shops. The parish also features the famous Ferryboat Inn at Helford Passage, and a number of renowned sub-tropical gardens.

Those keen on walking will find plenty of pathways to explore (including the coast path itself), while the sandy beach of Maenporth – which is popular with families – is around half a mile down the hill. And, of course, the Helford River itself has a number of quiet coves to discover and relax on, too.

The hotel’s restaurant, The Hutches, has been awarded an AA Rosette for outstanding cuisine, while the lounge (with fully licensed cocktail bar) offers a splendid panorama.
