Shearwater at Port Navas, Cornwall

There are few holiday cottages situated in a more idyllic spot than Shearwater; a recently refurbished Victorian property on the banks of Port Navas creek.

Indeed, this is the perfect little place in which to unwind at any time of the year. In Spring the surrounding hedgerows and woods are full of wild flowers; in Summer it is the perfect place from which to explore the wider river (it possesses its own mooring); by Autumn the oak tree-lined banks are awash with colour; and in Winter the sheltered creek remains calm in all but the wildest of winds.

Shearwater also benefits from its own terraced garden to the rear, although many visitors are perfectly happy to sit outside the front of the cottage and watch the world go by. And if the evenings turn chilly, there’s always a woodburner to cosy up by.

The cottage offers two bedrooms, one a double and one twin, with the former boasting views over the head of the creek below.

The Port Navas Yacht Club, where temporary membership is available, is just a stone’s throw away, while the thriving villages of Mawnan Smith and Constantine are a short drive in either direction.

Please note that owing to steep steps and the proximity to the river, Shearwater is not suitable for young children under 5 years of age.
