Glen Avon Cottage near Port Navas

Drive along the winding country lane between Mawnan Smith and Port Navas and you’ll be sure to notice this picture-postcard cottage.

Indeed, it must occupy one of the most idyllic spots anywhere in the UK – set just above Trenarth Bridge on a tiny branch of Port Navas creek, nestled beneath woods which drop down to the water’s edge. At high tide on a summer day you might see shoals of mullet, and at low tide an egret or two. Nature certainly abounds here.

Grade-II listed, the cottage almost certainly dates from the early part of the nineteenth century. The accommodation is three-star rated by Visit Britain, and the property is able to sleep five people in three rooms (one double, one twin and one single).

Undeniably a great place to escape and “get away from it all”, Glen Avon still benefits from being close to village amenities at Mawnan Smith (shops, pub, etc) as well as Constantine. Moreover, the lovely creekside hamlet of Port Navas is within walking distance.

Glen Avon has private parking, its own garden with barbecue area, and provides dog-friendly self-catering accommodation. Its friendly owners, Edward and Ann Benney, live close by at Lower Penpol farm.
