Those looking for some genuine rural quietude could do a great deal worse than consider this particular place. Boasting the river as a backdrop, the most likely things to disturb the tranquility are cows and the occasional boat engine out on the water.

Set within a tiny hamlet of similar properties, the cottage certainly possesses some of the most enviable views to be found anywhere in Cornwall - gaze across the water to the place made famous by Daphne du Maurier, Frenchman’s Creek, and you’ll soon see why such a claim isn’t mere hyperbole.

The area is a haven for nature and a perfect retreat for birdwatchers, wildlife enthusiasts and walkers - wait long enough and you’ll see Kingfishers, little egrets and Herons. And, if you’re really lucky, an otter.

Port Navas (home to the Duchy of Cornwall oyster farm) is around only a mile away, while in the opposite direction are the Trengilly Wartha Inn - which offers B&B accommodation in its own right - at Nancenoy (approximately 2 miles) and the Gweek Inn at Gweek some four miles distant. Both serve lunch and evening meals.

Constantine village is also nearby and has two small but well-stocked grocery shops. Wine and spirit connoisseurs would do well to visit ‘Constanine Stores’ which boasts a remarkable range of rare and unusual whiskies, wines and other alcoholic beverages.
