Creekside Cottage at Gweek

Creekside is a traditional Cornish stone-fronted cottage, renovated to a high standard, yet retaining many character features. There is a pretty cottage-style garden to the front.

The property is situated in the heart of the old village of Gweek at the head of the Helford River. Within the village are the Black Swan serving good food, as well as a general stores and post office. Its also home to the Gweek Boatyard, which remains an important boat building and repair centre. The National Seal Sanctuary is also located here, and provides injured and sick grey seals with the treatment and rehabilitation they need before being returned to the wild.

Of course, the Helford is famous for its gardens, but by staying at the westernmost end of the river you’re also much closer to some other notable country estates such as Godolphin and Trevarno.

On both sides of the river there are coves and hamlets a-plenty which are well worth a visit, rain or shine. Stunning scenery and beautiful beaches, including Gunwalloe and Loe Bar are all within a short drive, too, while Flambards Theme Park is also nearby.

Those intending to dine out during their stay will find that there’s a diverse range of restaurants and inns within just a few miles: there are options in both Helston and Porthleven, while The Helzephron Inn close to Gunwalloe is a famous old Cornish pub.
